BROKEN RIVER STAFF

The Broken River winter team is a small and committed group of highly-qualified individuals, working together with a Club full of members who are passionate about Broken River and the great opportunities and atmosphere our field offers. As a representative of the Club at all times, a willingness to ensure that Broken River's members and visitors enjoy the best possible experience is essential. You'll also need flexibility to work with other staff members and in their roles if required.

Ski Area Manager

The Ski Area Manager (aka Mountain Manager) has overall "on-mountain" responsibility for the operations of Broken River. He or she will have proven ability and significant experience in ski area management, risk management, personnel management, and will work closely with Broken River Ski Club management. Guest Services Supervisor

You will supervise the smooth running of our accommodation facilities, ticket office sales, cash handling and daily reconciliations, the operation of the on field canteen in Palmer Lodge, and liaise with the Club Treasurer. You will be capable of operating the Club's accounting system and software, and in charge of taking bookings for ski packages and dealing with information requests from guests. Pay rate $25-$30/hr.

Ski School Director & Ski Instructor

Broken River is renowned for providing high-quality ski instruction and this is an integral part of the Broken River experience. You'll hold an international ski instruction qualification (e.g. NZSIA Level 2, CSIA Level 3, PSIA 3, or above). You will be responsible for organising group and individual lessons for resident guests & day visitors as well as weekend instruction & mutli-day offpiste clinics. Pay rate $25-$30/hr.

Ski Patrol & Field Ops Assistant

You will have some professional ski patrol experience. Medical certifications must include PHEC (EMT). Avalanche safety qualifications, professional membership to an avalanche safety organization (MSC, CAA, AAA), and a current snow blasting certificate an advantage but not necessary. To be suitable for this role you will need excellent problem-solving skills, possess good common sense and decision. Pay rate $25-$30/hr.

Chef/ Lodge Host

We require an experienced chef to run the Club's on-field accommodation. You will oversee the smooth operation of all catering on the mountain. You will be responsible for providing breakfast and dinner for up to 70 guests plus staff in a timely manner, and oversee cleaning duties for both lodges to ensure these are fulfilled to a high standard. You will create and allocate costings for weekly menu plans. Pay rate $25-$30/hr.

Volunteer

Posted

You will be willing to assist on an unpaid basis in the base area, accommodation lodges, and on field in return for food, board & skiing.

Daily duties (3 to 5 hours per day) include shovelling snow, helping in the ticket office, gritting walkways, assisting the chef with meal preparation and evening dishes, as well as light lodge cleaning duties. The remainder of the day is your own to enjoy.

Groomer and Plant Operator

You will operate a PB300W Groomer, Grader, Bulldozer & Skidsteer loader on the ski field/access road/car parks. Other duties include basic maintenance on ski lifts, roads & buildings. You'll be responsible for repair & maintenance of Club machinery & plant. Proven experience with 3+ seasons experience operating snow groomers, preferably in a PB300 and winch capable. A NZ class 1 licence with T (self laying tracks) & W (wheels) endorsements. Pay $25-30/hour.
