About Us

We offer ski instruction for children and adults of all levels and abilities. Our expert instructors will focus your lesson on your goals and help you gain more control at whatever speed you like to ski. These lessons will show you how to ski more efficiently and help to keep you injury-free so you can continue to enjoy the sport we all love.

 

Our group and private lessons are affordable to encourage everyone to benefit from these programmes. Lessons are available to anyone most week days and during the weekends. Our special "Catered 6 night/7 day skiweek package" includes 3 complimentary group lessons.

Group lessons

This type of programme teaches skiing in a fun and social environment and at a pace that will be comfortable for all members of the group. These popular lessons are offered at different ability levels which as follows:

First-timers

Tailored to adults or children. Learn how to use your equipment properly and practise sliding, stopping, and turning. This lesson will be a positive experience that will set you up with the tools to have fun on the slopes for years to come.

Parallel skiers will refine their skills in this group as we explore different terrain and tactics in an atmosphere of light and fun learning. With help from our instructors you will be skiing longer days and more of the mountain than you have before.

Advanced skiers

This level is geared towards those who ski all terrain on the mountain. Depending on the goals of the group and the conditions, we can work on bump skiing, expert carving, short turns, powder skiing or skiing the steeps. Our instructors are experienced race coaches who love skiing varied terrain and encourage you to join them for your time at Broken River.

Private lessons

Private lessons are a great opportunity to focus on your skiing goals. Group lessons are fun and economical but have obvious drawbacks if you have a specific goal you wish to accomplish.  You can also have a semi-private with one or two of your friends. Private lessons are available for all levels of skiers.

2013 Rates

Group Lessons	$40 per person	groups of 4 or more, 1.5 hours in length
Private Lessons	$60 for first person	up to 3 people and a minimum of 1 hour
	$30 for each extra person

Members pay about 60%.

To book lessons in advance, email skischool@brokenriver.co.nz, or talk to the Ticket Office staff or staff in the canteen at Palmer Lodge. Our ski school notice board in Palmer Lodge has the daily schedule of lessons. All lessons start and finish outside Palmer Lodge.
