To reach Broken River, you drive 1.5 hours west of Christchurch on State Highway 73 (the Arthur's Pass Road approx 8km past Castle Hill Village). The Access road to the ski area is on your left as you drive from Christchurch and is clearly sign posted. The access road runs for 6km through native beach forest to Hanomag car park which is for winter carparking.

At the car park, a free goods lift is available to transport your equipment up to the accommodation lodges while you walk up a pleasantly graded track for 15-20 minutes. Once at the accommodation lodges, the ski area is only a 5 minute walk away, this time with your ski/board gear and lunch. But don't worry, the awesome day ahead of you will make the short walk worthwhile.
