Broken River Staff
We employ professional staff to run the ski area and accommodation lodges in the winter. Our staff are very much part of the Club "family" and come back year after year.
We pride ourselves in having friendly, hard-working staff who reflect the culture of our Club and we appreciate them going the extra mile for us.
Meet Our Staff
Doug McCabe - Mountain Manager
This is Doug's 4th season at Broken River and 2nd year as Manager. In our summers Doug works as a Snow Safety Officer and Assistant Ski Patrol Director at the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana.
Rodger Poole - Ski School Director
Rodger is enjoying his first season here at Broken River. In our summer, he can be found skiing the dry powder of Silverstar in British Columbia.
Giuliana Grobberio - Accommodation Manager
Giuliana joins us from Italy for the second season in a row. She oversees all the bookings and is likely the first person you'll meet and the last one to say goodbye. She works as an accountant when she is not at the ski field.
Hailey Green - Snow Safety and Ski Patrol
Our longest running staff member, we are very pleased to have Hailey join our team with his valuable expertise for another season. When he is not ripping it up on a pair of Kingswood skis, he can be found working as a supervisor at a mine.
Barrett Miles - Snow Safety and Ski Patrol
This is Barrett's first season here at Broken River. He is a colleague of Doug's at the Yellowstone Club in Montana during the Northern Hemisphere winter.
Ray Head - Chef
After a short absence, Ray has returned to Broken River and we welcome him with open arms. Based in Sydney during the off-season, Ray is a full-time chef with a heavy addiction to skiing!
Emily Morel - Accommodation and Instructor
Emily joins us from Silverstar, British Columbia and is an all-round employee here at Broken River. You may find her in the ticket office, the canteen at Palmer Lodge, in the kitchen or teaching lessons on the hill.
Simon Reilly - Ski Patrol
Simon volunteered here last season and now joins us as part of our Ski Patrol team. Having grown up skiing Broken River he knows all the good stashes! When he is not on skis, he is swinging a hammer as a carpenter in Christchurch.
Daniel Innes - Maintenance
Having grown up in the Broken River Club environment and by being talented mechanically, Dan fits "like a bearing in a wheel" into the BR team. Dan can be found working on the lifts or in the groomer and is always keen to tackle any problems that arise.
